The painting was executed while Yim Jiksoon was working at Chosun University. The beautiful nature of southern region of Korea has provided a strong inspiration to artists, and Yim was one of those who created many landscape paintings after moving to the region. Mount Mudeung has been a subject of inspiration for many artists. The work show the snow covered mountain using so many different colors that makes one wonder: “Can snow be expressed in this many colors?” In this work, the contrast between cold and warm colors is made, the composition of color fields and the artist’s unique lively brushstroke are shown.
