Safita is a city that located in the northwest Tartus Governorate of Syria near the Mediterranean coast. It reflects his relationship to the land and his upbringing in the countryside, where he observed vast plateaus, plains, and deserts. That is reflected in his work, where the earth is often depicted as a mother figure, and it appears in “al Oum,” which means the mother. The latter part of Moudarres’ artistic career is characterized by a departure from heavy textures, with a lighter use of colors and a clear portrayal of blue skies as if it is watercolor paintings.
