Island is a subject that expresses the longing for the artist’s hometown. The artist, whose hometown is Anjwa-do in Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, left paintings depicting the moon and an island against a blue background reminiscent of the sea in his hometown. The island in this work shows the characteristics of the 1960s when hills, mountains, and clouds were concisely expressed with linear elements, gradually moving towards abstract art.
