Mazinger Z was a Japanese manga series that depicted a team of super robots that would protect the world from evildoers. In the US, the series was renamed Tranzor Z with the dialogue dubbed in English and many of the names changed to reflect Western taste while retaining Asian sensibilities. “I used to watch this show religiously as a child and my friends and I would recreate the episodes and reenact the adventures of the characters. It was exciting to imagine these robots from Asia as protectors of the Earth.”
