L(ava) + S(and) Dust Furry was created on-site at Chosun University in Gwangju. After executing three pieces in the Dust series and one chair piece during a short period of two weeks, Linda Nguyen Lopez created this work for the last time using Korean clay. Another participating artist, Steven Young Lee, who arrived in Gwangju later, completed the work by glazing and firing the piece, which had already been made and dried by Lopez just before she left Gwangju. The color, reminiscent of bleeding dust, creates a sense of pleasantness. Lopez took the “L” from her name “Linda” and the “S” from “Steven” and titled the work “L(ava)+S(and).” The collaborative process of L(ava) + S(and) Dust Furry shows the long friendship of Lopez and Lee.
