Linda Nguyen Lopez has been constantly interested in personifying surrounding things and giving them new characteristics. This is mainly due to her childhood growing up under a Vietnamese mother and a Mexican father. Reflecting on her childhood memories of struggling to communicate in English, the artist brought the motif of her work from the moments of interacting with her mother using tiny objects. Lopez’s behavior causes people to take a second look at small things near her, like dust stuck to a mop.
