The series photographed in 2010, shows the concrete cross section of the Gwanghwamun member that was demolished as part of the Gyeongbokgung Palace restoration project. Gwanghwamun was destroyed by bombing during the Korean War and was restored in 1968. In the difficult economic situation at the time, it was restored with steel and concrete, and dancheong pattern was applied on top to make it look like a wooden building. Through a major reconstruction project that started recently in 2006, the gate that had been restored with concrete was demolished, and the cross section of it could be seen. The disparate appearance of colorful and traditional dancheong and cut-off concrete sections coexisting in one structure symbolically shows the pain of history.
