Koo's Assignments
Koo has been publishing works through collaboration with various media such as The Korean Publishing Journal since 1988. selected works that reveal the artist’s unique characteristics of sensuous use of props. The series capturing the collection of the Onyang Folk Museum, focused on the beauty of common and seemingly insignificant artifacts such as fish traps, nets, and poop bowls made of natural materials such as straw, bamboo, and logs. The artist shows that simplicity has power in a different way than splendor. The is a collaboration with the Korea Craft Design Foundation under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the series that represents the five cardinal colors, the traditional colors of Korea, using commonly found Korean food ingredients. The artist shows the connection between life and culture by exploring and arranging or combining Korean ingredients that we see everyday and expressing them in five colors. In this exhibition, his works that shed new light on Korean beauty are introduced, such as flowers or rice placed in various types of white porcelain, and the small table presented at the Expo 2015 Milan pre-exhibition, 《Invitation to Korean Dining》.
