Vakki pays attention to a number of people passing by one another and energy created in the course of objects’ moving around the set track. Vakki’s works, which start from the questions on creation, extinction, and the circulation of existences, feature the cheerful rhythms of geometric elements arranged by the vivacious visual language unique to the artist.
Self-archetype of the Unconscious is a kinetic installation that expresses the properties of water by adopting the distinct methodology of the artist, which expands geometric figurative elements through repetitions and recombination. For the design of this work, the artist especially focuses on the aspects of fluidity and the circulation of water. The characteristics of water, which varies depending on containers in the course of the constant flow and circulation and exists in various forms, including fog, dew, rain, or cloud, according to the conditions, are connected to the critical mind of the artist who seeks the possibility of new creations through the repetitions of the basic form. The moving structure under the lighting presents an experience of watching a shining water surface under the sunlight. Furthermore, the circular shape, which is used as the major element for the Self-archetype of the Unconscious, physically visualizes the aspect of the circulation of water and also adopted as a symbolic representation of the original unconsciousness by Carl Jung. Thus, through the archetypal form, the artist attempts to reveal the phenomenal aspect of water that constantly moves and changes and on the other hand, connect it to the image that has been passed on since ancient time.
